Messages in Yrka has two sides: a direct-message Inbox for conversations sent to you personally, and a Board for organization-wide channels and announcements. Both are accessible from the Messages tab in the navigation. New messages appear in real time when you are connected, and the app falls back to polling when a live connection is not available.

Reading and replying in your Inbox

Your Inbox contains direct conversations from managers and other Yrka users.
1

Open Messages

Select Messages from the navigation bar.
2

Switch to Inbox

If you land on the Board view, select Inbox from the header tabs.
3

Select a conversation

Choose a message or conversation from the list to open it. Unread conversations are highlighted with an unread indicator.
4

Read and reply

Read the message body and any thread context. When the reply control is available, type your reply and send it.
5

Mark as read

Opening a message marks it as read. You can also use Mark all read to clear all unread indicators at once.
If you open Messages from a Dashboard Required Action link, the app may take you directly to the relevant conversation.

Board channels

Board channels are where your organization posts announcements, updates, and team-wide conversations. You can read all channels visible to your profile. Posting and replying depend on whether the channel allows it.
1

Open Messages

Select Messages from the navigation bar.
2

Switch to Board

Select Board from the header tabs.
3

Choose a channel

Select a visible board channel from the list.
4

Read posts and threads

Open any post to read its full content and thread replies. You can use reactions when the reaction control appears.
5

Post or reply

When the composer is available for that channel, type your post or reply and send it. Some channels are read-only for employees.
You cannot create or manage board channels from the employee app. Channel membership and posting controls are set by your organization.

Required acknowledgements

Some messages or board posts require you to formally acknowledge them. These appear in your Dashboard Required Actions and may also be marked in the message itself.
1

Find the message

Open the message or post that requires acknowledgement. You can navigate to it from Dashboard Required Actions or by browsing your Inbox or Board directly.
2

Read the content

Read the full message before acknowledging. Yrka records your acknowledgement after you confirm it.
3

Select Acknowledge

Select the acknowledgement control when it appears. The message updates to show an Acknowledged status.
4

Confirm it clears

Return to Dashboard to confirm the Required Action is cleared. If it is still visible, refresh the app.
Receiving an external notification (email, SMS) is not the same as acknowledging a message inside Yrka. Your organization tracks in-app acknowledgement separately.

Message recaps

For long threads or message histories with many unread items, Yrka can generate an AI recap to help you get up to speed quickly.
  • Select the recap action when it appears on a conversation or thread
  • Read the recap as a summary aid, then review the original messages before taking any action
  • Recaps are online-only — they are not available when you are offline or when the feature is disabled
Recaps are a reading aid, not a substitute for the source message. Always read the original content before acknowledging or acting on a message.

Message status reference

Common issues

Some channels are read-only for employees. Posting controls appear only where your organization has granted posting access.
The action is saved on your device but has not reached the server yet. Wait for your connection to restore, then let it sync before sending a duplicate.
Refresh the app after completing the acknowledgement. If it does not clear, confirm the server accepted the action by checking the message status in your Inbox or Board.
These features are online-only. Reconnect and try again.
