# Use the Yrka clock kiosk to record time

> Use your employee clock code to clock in and out at a shared kiosk device. Enter your code, confirm your name, and resolve common kiosk clock problems in Yrka.

The clock kiosk is a shared device your organization sets up for employees to clock in and out using a personal clock code. Instead of signing in to your own account, you enter your code, confirm your name, and the kiosk records your time. The kiosk is available at `/clock` on the shared device — it is tied to your organization and is not a public or anonymous clock.

<Note>
  The kiosk is separate from the self-service clock in your employee app. Your organization controls both, but they are independent settings. You may have access to one, both, or neither.
</Note>

## Using your clock code

<Steps>
  <Step title="Go to the kiosk">
    Approach the shared device that has the kiosk open. It should already be signed in to your organization's kiosk surface at `/clock`.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter your employee clock code">
    Type your clock code into the code field. Your code is 4 to 10 digits. Do not share your code with other employees.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select Continue">
    Select **Continue** to look up your employee record.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm your name">
    The kiosk shows your name. Confirm it is correct before proceeding. If the wrong name appears, select **Use a different code** and re-enter your code.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review any schedule-window message">
    If you are clocking in outside your scheduled window, you may see a warning or a message that the action will be flagged for manager review.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select Clock In or Clock Out">
    Choose the correct action. If you see **Clocked in since \[time]**, you are already clocked in — select **Clock Out** when you are done.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Wait for the success message">
    Do not walk away until you see the confirmation. The kiosk then resets for the next person.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  Do not share your clock code with coworkers. The kiosk records the action under your employee record. If someone else uses your code, the resulting time entry will be attributed to you.
</Warning>

## Your clock code

Your organization issues your clock code. Here is what you need to know:

* **You cannot see your full clock code** — only the last four digits are shown to you after a reset
* **Only a manager or admin can reset your clock code** — if you forget it or it stops working, ask your manager
* **Repeated failed attempts can temporarily lock your code** — if your code is locked, ask a manager to review it

<Info>
  Clock codes are 4 to 10 digits. The full code is only visible immediately after a manager resets it. After that, only the last four digits are stored in a way that employees can see.
</Info>

## Kiosk versus self-service clocking

The kiosk and your personal Time Entry are two different ways to record time:

|                  | Kiosk                  | Self-service Time Entry            |
| ---------------- | ---------------------- | ---------------------------------- |
| Device | Shared org device | Your own device |
| Login | Clock code | Your Yrka account |
| Location capture | Not supported | Optional or required (org setting) |
| Access setting   | Kiosk clock-in setting | Time Entry setting                 |

If your organization requires location for clock actions, kiosk clock-in is unavailable because shared kiosks cannot capture your device location.

## Troubleshooting common kiosk problems

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="My code is not being recognized">
    Re-enter the code once to rule out a typing mistake. If it still fails, ask a manager to verify or reset your clock code. Common causes: the code was reset, the code belongs to a different organization, or the account is inactive.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="My code is temporarily locked">
    Repeated failed attempts trigger a temporary lockout. You cannot unlock this yourself — ask a manager to review or reset your code.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The wrong name appeared when I entered my code">
    Select **Use a different code** and try again. If the issue repeats, ask your manager to verify that the correct clock code is assigned to your profile.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The kiosk says Clock In but I am already clocked in (or vice versa)">
    The kiosk shows the state it found for your code. If the state does not match what you expect, tell your manager the visible status and the exact time so they can review your timecard.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The kiosk is unavailable or not accepting clock actions">
    Kiosk clock-in may be disabled, a required location policy may be blocking it, or the payroll period may be locked. Ask your manager which condition applies and whether to use the self-service Time Entry as a fallback.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I got a message about early clock-in">
    If the message says early clock-in is blocked, use the normal manager review path rather than trying other workarounds. If it says early clock-in will require manager review, you can proceed and the entry will be flagged.
  </Accordion>

<Warning>
  If a kiosk action fails, tell a manager the exact error message and the time it happened. Do not create an unsupervised duplicate entry as a workaround — your manager should review the kiosk state before you take another action.
